RBI-GT Announces Faculty Search

Georgia Tech recently announced academic and research faculty openings in support of RBI’s strategic thrusts.  Georgia Tech’s academic faculty support the research and educational mission of the Renewable Bioproducts Institute.  To enrich the academic and technical contributions in the fields aligned with RBI’s strategic thrusts, Georgia Tech is announcing openings in academic Schools and seeks qualified candidates for these positions.

Tenure Track Faculty Position

THE GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, SCHOOL OF CHEMISTRY AND BIOCHEMISTRY seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty position in the development of any aspect of chemistry or biochemistry related to feedstocks from renewable and sustainable sources. Research areas of interest include, but are not limited to, functional biomaterials, catalysis, energy harvesting and storage, efficient syntheses and processes, and plant bioengineering and synthetic biology. Opportunities for significant interaction with and support from the Institute for Paper Science and Technology at Georgia Tech (ipst.gatech.edu) will be available. Candidates with interdisciplinary research programs may be considered for joint appointments with other campus units.  Exceptional candidates at all levels are encouraged to apply. Professor of the Practice

The School of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering and the Renewable Bioproducts Institute of Georgia Tech announce they will hire a Professor of the Practice to teach and research in a field affiliated with pulp and paper manufacturing. The professor of the practice will support the strategic mission of the Renewable Bioproducts Institute and, through the graduate academic program, enter into collaboration with the Schools of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Chemistry & Biochemistry, and Mechanical Engineering. A joint appointment is possible. The candidate should have significant knowledge of pulp & paper related technologies and have contributed to advances in the field of biorefining. The Professor of the Practice is a non-tenure track position designated for qualified academic, business, or government leaders. Qualifications and expectations for this position include a substantial base of experience and a national/international reputation for excellence, and must be able to serve as liaison between industry or government and the Institute in identifying teaching and research opportunities. The candidate must hold a PhD in a relevant engineering or scientific field. Successful candidates will be capable of developing nationally-recognized research programs in a collaborative environment that emphasizes industrially oriented research and contributes to the School’s history of educational excellence. Qualified candidates would be expected to generate financial resources to support and enhance Institute programs. Consideration of applications will begin on June 1, 2014.
